Sanju Samson Sets Record for Most Sixes in Single Edition of T20 World Cup

The wk-batter Sanju Samson has set a record for hitting the most sixes in one edition of the T20 World Cup.

He broke Rohit Sharma’s record of hitting the most sixes for India in a T20 World Cup edition during the semi-final match against England, where he slammed 8 sixes played on March 05 at Mumbai.

In the finals played against New Zealand on March 08, he extended his sixes count to 24 in 5 games, which is the highest for any player in an edition of the T20 World Cup.

Finn Allen follows Sanju in the list of batters with the most sixes in the T20 World Cup in 2026 edition with 20 sixes in eight matches.

Sanju Samson, who opened the innings for India during the finals against New Zealand, went on to make a solid knock scoring 89 runs off 46 deliveries, which includes 5 fours and 8 sixes.

He added 98 runs for the 1st wicket playing along with Abhishek Sharma and forged a 105 runs off 48 deliveries for the second wicket with Ishan Kishan.

Despite playing only 5 games, Sanju Samson also amassed 321 runs in this ongoing tournament and emerged as the third-highest run getter in the T20 World Cup 2026.

He now tops the list of Indian batters to have the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup. He surpassed Virat kohli’s record of 319 runs in six games in the 2019 edition of the tournament.

Apart from this, Sanju Samson has scored his third consecutive 50+ score in the T20 World Cup 2026, reaching his half-century off 33 deliveries. He previously scored a brilliant half-century in the semifinals and in the Super 8s game against the West Indies.

He has now joined the list of batters who have scored fifties in both semifinals and Finals of the same T20 World Cup. The list includes Shahid Afridi (2009), Virat Kohli (2014) and Sanju Samson (2026).

He also joined the list of players who have most 50+ runs in T20 World Cups. This list includes players like Mahela Jayawardene (2010), Virat Kohli (2016-2021), Babar Azam (2021), KL Rahul (2021), Kusal Mendis (2026), Sahibzada Farhan (2026) and Sanju Samson (2026).
