Air fryers are so convenient for cooking dinner quickly, but I often dread cleaning them as I can end up spending ages scrubbing at baked-on stains that refuse to come off. It can be difficult to get an air fryer clean as grease and oil will splatter when food is cooking and quickly harden due to the heat, leaving behind an incredibly sticky residue. Most cleaners are not designed to tackle burned grease, and anything stronger can leave a chemical residue that is unsafe for any area where food is cooked.

I'm always tempted to stick my air fryer in a cupboard as I am sick of trying to clean it, but recently I discovered how easy it is to dissolve grease stains with just dishwasher tablets.Dishwasher tablets are designed to tackle tough food stains that stick to plates, and it can also be used to get rid of air fryer debris without having to do any scrubbing.

It works because dishwasher tablets contain surfactants, chemicals that help oil and water mix.

When you use dishwasher tablets to clean an air fryer, the grease and oils are surrounded by surfactants, making them easier to rinse away with water.

Using a dishwasher tablet will simply soften the burned-on stains, making them much easier to clean, so you do not have to spend ages fussing with your air fryer.

All you need to do is unplug your air fryer and, if you have used it recently, leave it until it has cooled completely.

Place the air fryer basket or tray in warm water. Then, take a dishwasher tablet, tear it in half and then add it to the water.

It is better not to use the whole dishwasher tablet, as it is a strong degreaser and is more likely to leave a residue if you use too much. You only really need half a dishwasher tablet, or even a quarter, to clean an air fryer.

Leave the dishwasher tablet to dissolve in the water for five to 10 minutes, and when the time is up, pour the water into the sink.

Use a cloth to gently wipe the air fryer basket or tray, and the stains should easily come off without you having to do any work.

I then just rinse my air fryer basket thoroughly under the tap, dry it with paper towels and then resemble it.

This cleaning method has completely changed the way I do housework as I no longer dread cleaning the air fryer, and it only takes a few minutes which helps save me a lot of time.
