Only Fools and Horses star Gwyneth Strong has hinted at a new collaboration with one of her co-star. The 66 year old actress, who portrayed Cassandra in the popular sitcom and whose character eventually married Rodney Trotter (Nicholas Lyndhurst), is embarking on a fresh venture.

Over two decades since the final episode of theBBC sitcom was broadcast, Gwyneth has disclosed that she's joined forces with Tessa Peake-Jones, who played Del Boy's common-law wife, a character brought to life by David Jason.

Highlighting that she and Tessa remain "very good friends" after all this time, she explained: "We're really close. At the moment, I'm writing a television proposal for her and me, so I'll wake up refreshed from my nap and work on that."

Speaking to The Telegraph, she revealed: "I can't say much about it yet, but the show has elements of experiences Tessa and I have had throughout our very long friendship."

Just a few weeks ago, Tessa reunited with co-stars including Gwyneth Strong and Sue Holderness for the UandGold documentary Only Fools and Horses: The Lost Archive. She confessed that everyone was primarily concerned with "getting it right" when episodes were being produced all those years ago, reportsThe Mirror.

She commented: "Usually [the actors have] seen it all in rehearsals so many times, it's not that funny anymore anyway.' If people had seen us backstage before the show, they'd have seen people pacing up and down the corridors with nerves, including David and Nick [Nicholas Lyndhurst]."

Speaking to The Sun, she further commented: "We cared so much, and we wanted to get it right, but one slip-up of a word could ruin that laugh!" As part of the forthcoming special, viewers will have the opportunity to see previously unseen footage after it was discovered at the BBC, with the stars reacting to it on camera.

Tessa, who also portrays Mrs Maguire in the ITV drama Grantchester, recently appeared on ITV's Lorraine, where she elucidated why the footage had been initially cut as she disclosed David's "quite depressing" reflections on it all.

Speaking to stand-in host Christine Lampard, she stated: "They found unseen footage in a drawer at the BBC and they've compiled two or three episodes. Cut scenes, some of it are scenes where things went wrong. They assembled it all and got us to watch the various scenes. It was very odd though, and David Jason was very, very poignant about it all."

"There was one bit he watched and he said 'Oh we were so young and successful back then,' so it was quite depressing. But I understand what he meant, seeing yourself decades ago, it was peculiar."

"Some of it, we didn't remember because it was cut and David said it was cut because it wasn't funny. Some of it was quite long scenes that were sad or moving and I think in the general run of the whole thing when editing, they thought it just wasn't funny enough so it got cut. But people are going to see it now!"

Only Fools And Horses: The Lost Archive will broadcast behind-the-scenes footage along with material that the series producer described as "filmed but never broadcast".

Announcing the new UKTV documentary series, Sir David, 85, whose on-screen brother Rodney was portrayed by Nicholas Lyndhurst, stated: "The love for Only Fools has never faded. It's incredible to see how many people still hold it close to their hearts. Revisiting these rediscovered moments reminded me just how special the show was - and still is. It's incredible to be able to share them now."

Sean Doherty, director and series producer, commented: "Few shows have the kind of enduring popularity that Only Fools enjoys. "The archive has uncovered some extraordinary material - 66 unseen clips and scenes so far that were filmed but never broadcast because they didn't fit the timing or structure of the original episodes, plus nearly 100 assets from rushes and location filming. We've truly been spoilt for choice."
