The UK has "temporarily" withdrawn the dependents of embassy staff in the United Arab Emirates "as a precautionary measure", the Foreign Office said. In an update to its travel advice on Monday evening, the Foreign Office said: "Due to the ongoing security situation, as a precautionary measure we have decided to temporarily withdraw the dependents of British Embassy staff from the United Arab Emirates. Our embassies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai continue tooperate as normal."
Thjs comes after more explosions were reported in the UAE following numerous Iranian strikes on Dubai, Abu Dhabi and other cities in recent days. The Emirati military confirmed on Monday that "air defences successfully intercepted Iranian ballistic and cruise missiles and drones". Social media users reported blasts over Fujairah in the east of the UAE on Monday. Blasts have also been reported in Qatar and Bahrain in recent hours.
