The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has unveiled the final vacancy list for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025, revealing a total of 15,130 job openings across various central government ministries and departments.

This updated list was made public on March 6, 2026, detailing available positions in Group B and Group C categories. These roles are distributed among key government departments such as the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Home Affairs.


Post Preferences Submission

Candidates involved in the recruitment process will soon have the chance to express their job preferences via the Option-cum-Preference window, which is set to open in March 2026. Eligible individuals can log in and submit their preferences through the official SSC website ssc.nic.in.

Following closely is the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), which has 1,306 openings for the Inspector (Central Excise) position.


Additionally, the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) under the Ministry of Defence has announced 1,174 vacancies for the Auditor role.


Other Key Positions in SSC CGL Recruitment

Several other central government roles are also included in the vacancy list, such as:



  • Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Central Secretariat Service – 982 vacancies

  • Tax Assistant in the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) – 1,294 vacancies


Departments like the Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of External Affairs, and Enforcement Directorate also have openings, though in smaller numbers compared to the larger ministries.


Age Limit for SSC CGL Positions

The age limit for various SSC CGL posts varies by position and department. Generally, for many Group B roles, the age limit is between 18 and 30 years.


For several Group C positions, including Tax Assistant, Auditor, and Upper Division Clerk, the age limit is typically 18 to 27 years.


Candidates can apply for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) position up to the age of 32 years, which is one of the few roles with a higher age limit.


Age relaxation is available for candidates from reserved categories as per government regulations.


Preference Filling Process for Candidates

Candidates who have taken the SSC CGL 2025 examination will soon be able to select their preferred posts and departments.
