The district has witnessed several alarming incidents of sexual assault against minors, yet there have been no confirmed reports of police encounters or viral videos related to this so-called 'fake guru'.

Nevertheless, Mathura has seen numerous sensitive cases where self-proclaimed gurus or tantriks have exploited women and children:

• In August 2025, a 45-year-old tantrik named Mushtaq Ali was accused of raping a 35-year-old woman under the pretense of helping her conceive. The suspect is currently on the run, with police actively searching for him.


• Earlier cases also include incidents where self-styled godmen have been charged with raping disabled disciples.

Several other cases of sexual assault against minors have also emerged:

• In November 2025, a gang rape incident involving a 9-10 year old girl occurred near a temple in the Magorra police jurisdiction, with the assailant still at large, causing unrest in the village.


• In January 2026, a 5-year-old girl was assaulted in the Farah area after being lured with chocolate; a minor was arrested in connection with this case.


• In other instances, police have acted swiftly, such as in the Om Prakash case, where a rape suspect was injured during a half encounter and subsequently apprehended.

While there are no clear viral videos linked to this 'fake guru', social media frequently showcases videos of villagers or police confronting suspects, which stirs public outrage and sensationalism.
