Government Seeks Lok Sabha's Nod for Over ₹2.81 Lakh Crore in Additional Expenditure

New Delhi: On Tuesday, the government presented a request to the Lok Sabha for approval of an additional gross expenditure exceeding ₹2.81 lakh crore for the current fiscal year.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman introduced the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants in the Lok Sabha.
The proposal seeks parliamentary approval to authorize a total gross additional expenditure of ₹2,81,289.26 crore. This includes a net cash outflow of ₹2,01,142.96 crore, while the remaining ₹80,145.71 crore in gross additional expenditure will be offset by savings from various Ministries and Departments or through increased receipts and recoveries.
