More than 1,100 international flights were canceled in three days amid airspace restrictions affecting parts of the Middle East, including Iran.
On one day alone, 80 flights were scrapped at IGI Airport. This has left a lot of passengers stranded, some waiting up to 14 hours for updates.
To help out, the airport has added extra recliners, augmented washroom teams, and deployed additional medical teams.
It's not just geopolitics: jet fuel prices have shot up since early March and Air India has announced a phased expansion of fuel surcharges, citing a sharp rise in jet fuel prices and noting that high excise duty and VAT in cities including Delhi have amplified costs.
With over 1,300 daily flights usually taking off from IGI Airport, even a small disruption hits hard.
