The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (UP Board) is set to conclude its 10th and 12th board examinations on March 12th. In preparation for this, the board has initiated steps for the evaluation process of these exams. Notably, this year marks a significant change as the evaluation marks for both 10th and 12th grades will be made available online for the first time. Teachers are tasked with the responsibility of compiling and releasing the overall results, raising questions about whether they receive additional compensation for their evaluation duties.
Compensation for Teachers Evaluating Board Exams
Let's delve into the financial aspect of how much teachers earn for evaluating the UP 10th and 12th board exams. Specifically, we will look at the extra payment teachers receive for grading individual exam papers and how they are assigned these evaluation tasks.
Online Appointment for Evaluation Duties
The UP Board has initiated the process for appointing teachers to evaluate the exam papers. Collection centers have been established for this purpose, where exam papers will be transported to evaluation centers using trucks. Importantly, no government employees will be involved in this transportation. Teachers will be selected for evaluation through an online system, and a waiting list will be maintained to call upon additional teachers if necessary.
Limits on Copy Checking
The UP Board has implemented specific limits on the number of copies each teacher can evaluate. For instance, a teacher assigned to 12th-grade Science will be limited to checking 600 copies, while those evaluating 10th-grade Science will handle a maximum of 700 copies. Arts teachers will be allowed to check up to 800 copies.
Earnings from Evaluation
According to the regulations set by the UP Board, teachers receive payment for each exam paper they evaluate. Specifically, teachers grading 10th-grade papers earn 14 rupees per copy, while those evaluating 12th-grade papers receive 15 rupees per copy. On average, a teacher can evaluate between 45 to 50 copies daily, with a cap of 800 copies. This means a teacher could potentially earn up to 12,000 rupees from the evaluation process.
