The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has added 48 new tipper trucks to its fleet for horticulture waste collection in Delhi. The vehicles were flagged off by Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh during an event attended by civic officials and representatives. The newly introduced trucks are intended to support the collection and transportation of horticulture waste generated from parks, gardens, roadside plantations and other green spaces across the city.

Horticulture waste generally includes leaves, branches, grass cuttings and other organic material that requires separate handling within the municipal waste management system. According to civic authorities, the addition of these vehicles is expected to improve operational capacity in handling green waste. The trucks will be deployed across different zones to facilitate the collection of horticulture waste from various locations and its movement to designated processing or disposal facilities.

The event was attended by several officials of the municipal administration, including Satya Sharma, Harish Oberoi and Sanjeev Khirwar. Senior officials from the corporation’s sanitation and horticulture departments were also present during the flag-off ceremony. Municipal authorities have been working on strengthening systems related to waste collection and urban sanitation. Horticulture waste management is one component of this system, particularly in cities where public parks, gardens and roadside plantations generate large quantities of plant-based waste. Officials indicated that improved logistics and transportation support can help streamline the process of collecting and moving horticulture waste from public spaces.

Such waste is typically handled separately from regular household waste to allow for appropriate disposal or processing methods such as composting. The deployment of the new fleet is part of the municipal corporation’s broader initiatives related to sanitation services and urban maintenance. Authorities stated that the trucks will be used across multiple locations in the city as part of routine waste collection operations carried out by the civic body.
