Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann outlines welfare, education and development initiatives in state

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann spoke about several initiatives related to development, welfare programmes and education reforms in Punjab, highlighting the government’s policy focus in these areas. The remarks were shared in connection with ongoing administrative and policy discussions in the state.

According to the chief minister, the state government has been implementing a range of programmes aimed at infrastructure development, social welfare and improvements in public services. Among the measures mentioned was the allocation of funds for rural connectivity projects, including the construction and renovation of link roads in various parts of the state.

Mann also referred to developments in the education sector, noting that students from government schools in Punjab have qualified for competitive examinations such as Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). He also highlighted programmes aimed at improving teaching standards, including initiatives through which teachers and school principals are sent abroad for training and exposure to different teaching methods.

In the healthcare sector, the chief minister spoke about the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, a programme designed to provide cashless medical treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh for resident families in the state. Officials say the scheme aims to help households manage healthcare expenses by providing financial coverage for hospital treatment. The chief minister also mentioned the Mukh Mantri Mavaan Dhian Satkar Scheme, which provides monthly financial assistance to women. According to government statements, eligible beneficiaries may receive between ₹1,000 and ₹1,500 per month under the programme.

Other points highlighted included investment proposals in the state and initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people. The government also referred to measures related to electricity supply, stating that a large share of households currently receive electricity with minimal or no charges under existing policies. The announcements and updates form part of broader policy initiatives that the state government has been presenting in connection with its governance agenda. These initiatives cover areas such as social welfare, education improvements, healthcare support and infrastructure development across Punjab.
