The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board has released the 2026 notification for Senior Assistant positions, for which candidates can apply online until March 28.

Good news for young people preparing for government jobs. The Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB) has announced recruitment for Senior Assistant positions. This recruitment will provide opportunities for candidates who have completed their graduation and dream of working in a government office.

The Board has opened the online application process for this recruitment. Interested candidates can apply from March 7, 2026, to March 28, 2026. Applications will be accepted online only, and candidates must visit the official website of the Punjab SSSB and fill out the form.

Who Can Apply

Candidates applying for this recruitment must have a graduate degree from a recognized university. Candidates must also have computer knowledge. This requires completing a computer course of at least 120 hours. Candidates with an 'O' Level certificate from NIELIT (formerly DOEACC) can also apply.

What is the Age Limit?

The maximum age for general category candidates for this recruitment is 37 years. Age relaxation is available for SC, ST, and BC candidates from Punjab, with the upper age limit set at 42 years. Candidates already employed in the state or central government are also eligible for 45 years.

What is the Application Fee?

Different application fees apply for this recruitment. The application fee for ex-servicemen, EWS, differently-abled, and LDESM categories (only candidates from Punjab) is ₹500. The fee for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Backward Class (BC) candidates from Punjab is ₹750. Candidates from all other categories will have to pay an application fee of ₹1,500.

How will the selection process work?

First, candidates will have to take a written examination. This examination will be based on multiple-choice questions. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in this examination. It is important to note that negative marking will also apply in the examination. 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates who pass the written examination will then have to take a computer-based typing test. This test will require typing in both English and Punjabi. This test will be solely for eligibility verification. Finally, candidates included in the merit list will be called for document verification, during which all their certificates will be verified.

Salary Requirements

Candidates selected under this recruitment will be appointed to the position of Senior Assistant. The salary for this position will be under the Level-6 pay scale. The starting basic salary will be approximately ₹35,400 per month.
