Google Chrome Gemini AI Expansion: Google is continuously expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) assistant, Gemini. On Wednesday, Google announced the expansion of Gemini in Chrome in India. Gemini, the AI-powered assistant, was first launched in select markets in September 2025, and now the tech giant is expanding it to more regions. The Gemini extension will appear in the right-hand sidebar of the Chrome browser and will answer any queries on a webpage. Google has also added eight Indian languages to the new Gemini support in India.

Gemini will be supported in Chrome in India.

In a press release, Google announced that the Gemini extension will be supported in the side panel of Google Chrome in India. However, unlike the US, the Indian version does not include Auto Browse, which takes control of the user's browser and works on tasks instead. The company also announced that this feature will initially be available only on desktop and iOS. While all users can access Gemini in Chrome, the Auto Browse option is available only to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. It is only available in regions where this feature has been rolled out.

Will be available in eight different Indian languages

Gemini in Chrome is built using the company's latest Gemini 3.1 AI model. Its responses are based on its intelligence and reasoning capabilities. As part of this expansion, the AI feature will be available in eight different Indian languages. These languages include Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil.

It can answer questions on any webpage and satisfy queries using its database and the internet, drawing on context. It can analyze and provide answers across multiple open tabs.

Gemini Extensions Also Come with Nano Banana 2 Support

This Gemini AI experience also comes with Nano Banana 2 support, allowing users to create and edit images directly in the side panel. It can also edit images on a webpage without manually uploading them. Google has also added security features to help you be cautious about prompts.
