Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two rowdy-sheeters who were allegedly keeping pistols to carry out illegal activities and extort money by threatening people.
The arrested accused have been identified as Nagendra alias Swamy alias Shivanagendra (33), a rowdy-sheeter from HAL police station limits, and Suhail Khan (32), a rowdy-sheeter from Udayagiri police station in Mysuru.
Police said two pistols and three live bullets were recovered from the accused.
According to CCB officials, several cases including murder, robbery and attempt to murder have been registered against Nagendra at HAL, Electronic City, Mahadevapura, Bagalagunte and Ashok Nagar police stations.
Suhail Khan also has multiple cases registered against him at different police stations in Mysuru, including murder, robbery and other offences.
Police said five warrants had been issued against the two accused and they had been absconding for seven years without appearing before the court.
The operation was carried out by a team led by CCB DCP B L Haribabu, Organised Crime Wing (East) ACP C S Anand, Police Inspector Ramesh, P Suresh and other officers.
Pistol brought from Gujarat for Rs 1 lakh
Police said Suhail Khan had purchased a pistol from Gujarat for Rs 1 lakh and later sold it to Nagendra for Rs 1.5 lakh. The weapon was allegedly used for illegal activities, running a high-interest money lending business and threatening the public for extortion.
Based on specific information, CCB police arrested Nagendra from an apartment in Bannerghatta.
Police said Nagendra had earlier been arrested in 2016. After securing bail, he left Bengaluru and stayed in other places. In recent years, he was living on the outskirts of Bengaluru and was allegedly involved in illegal activities.
