Meghan Markle was criticised by fans after it was announced that she will be making a new podcast appearance while in Australia next month. The Duchess of Sussex will be heading Down Under alongside her husband, Prince Harry, in mid-April.

Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will not be joining them. Harry and Meghan are thought to be attending engagements in line with their respective passions, with the Duchess expected to take the lead at a women-only event in Sydney.

Meghan will be interviewed on stage at the £1,440-per-person event.

However, some fans were not impressed with the latest updates and accused the Duchess of being "vain".

Royal News Network on X, who regularly criticises the Sussex couple, said in a post: "The vain and vapid Meghan Markle will be interviewed for a vain and vapid podcast and retreat in Australia, and you can attend for the meagre price of $2699.

"She [Meghan] is no big thinker or entrepreneur, just a grifter desperate for someone to pay her to appear so she can share the same tired talking points.

"Well, a sucker is born every minute but I would be curious if this doesn't go as well as the organisers want."

Another one added: "I would like a head count on how many actually bought these tickets. I would think she would have to buy them herself."

A third one said: "Anyone who actually takes a serious look at her business would know that she hasn't built anything but rather it's crumbling. But I suppose she could train people in developing a public personality that everyone hates. That could work."

A fourth one opined: "Pay for play. Again. Who's gonna pay $2699 to go listen to her talk about things she's never done and/or failed at?

"She is the Duchess of Delusional Narcissistic Grandeur, indeed."

A fifth one commented: "What global business, everything she's touched has failed."

Others appeared to be excited for Meghan's new appearance, with one fan writing on Instagram: "Lovely wish I could be there."

Another one added: "Cool! Go Meghan! You Rock!"

A third one chimed: "Lady boss."

Meghan's appearance was announced by Gemma O'Neill, host of the Her Best Life podcast, which is organising the 300-person event.

O'Neill described the three-day event at a beachside hotel as "the ultimate girls' weekend" and said Meghan had contacted her after being put in touch by a mutual friend.

"I feel so flattered that she's effectively doing this as a favour because of our mutual friend," she said.

"She's doing it because she really loves what our community is about, which is women trying to grow, try to be their best selves and trying to help other women."

A spokesman for the couple said: "Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will visit Australia in mid-April to take part in a number of private, business and philanthropic engagements.

"Further details will be shared in due course."
