Chelsea player ratings vs PSG as 3/10 flops despite Enzo Fernandez and Pedro Neto heroics
Football | March 12, 2026 7:39 AM CST

A poor second-half performance from Filip Jorgensen cost Chelsea as Liam Rosenior's side fell to defeat in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Paris Saint-Germain.

Jorgensen, in the side in place of Robert Sanchez, gifted possession to PSG winger Bradley Barcola before Vitinha scored the decisive goal of the first leg. Initially, PSG took the lead just 10 minutes in with Barcola's great strike proving too much for the helpless Jorgensen.

The Blues, though, levelled on 28 minutes with Malo Gusto's strike beating Matvey Safonov, who would have been disappointed after getting a strong hand to the shot. Not long before the half-time break, PSG restored their lead after Chelsea were caught on the break.

Ousmane Dembele finished it off for the hosts, with a big deflection off Wesley Fofana helping the ball beat Jorgensen.

In the second half, Chelsea found another leveller. Some fantastic work from Pedro Neto saw the winger set up Enzo Fernandez, whose strike found the top corner right in front of the corner of travelling Blues supporters.

PSG eventually found the third goal through Vitinha after Jorgensen's mistake. Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, on as a second-half substitute, struck powerfully into the bottom corner from distance to give the Parisiens a three-goal advantage and has left Chelsea with it all to do in the return leg at Stamford Bridge next week.

Bobby Vincent was live in Paris to bring you the full Chelsea player ratings at half time in this Champions League knockout tie.

Filip Jorgensen - Trusted in goal for such a big game. A nervy start, with the goalkeeper gifting PSG possession and then a chance but Dembele got his shot all wrong. Made a strong save to deny Dembele not long after, tipping the ball onto the post. However, Jorgensen gifted PSG a goal in the second half with a silly pass that ended in Vitinha dinking the ball over the Chelsea goalkeeper. Could have done better for Kvaratskhelia's second goal. 3

Malo Gusto - The Frenchman equalised for Chelsea almost half an hour in at Parc des Princes. Gusto found himself in so much space and hit the ball well, though the goalkeeper should have done much better. Considering he had the difficult job of dealing with Barcola, and sometimes Dembele when he drifted to that side, Gusto performed admirably. 8

Wesley Fofana - Fofana didn't cover himself in glory for Dembele's goal. He got twisted and turned by his compatriot before his strike deflected off the Chelsea defender and past Jorgensen. Yes, it was against one of the world's best in Dembele, but Fofana might be a tad disappointed with how he handled that situation. 5

Trevoh Chalobah - Chalobah fully committed to win the ball before it fell to Doue for Dembele's goal. The defender went to win the ball back aggressively but got nowhere near it and a gaping hole was left at the back. 5

Marc Cucurella - The Spaniard looked a bit rusty at times, but also found himself in some dangerous attacking positions. However, his energy down the left side helped Chelsea get out of their own half on plenty of occasions 6

Reece James - The Chelsea captain did well out there. Added some physicality into the midfield and passed it well - as he always does. 6

Moises Caicedo - The Ecuadorian went about his business quietly but effectively. A lot of running to try and disrupt PSG's brilliant midfield trio. 6

Cole Palmer - Palmer started the game in a really lively fashion, often creating some space for himself on the right-hand side. He was consistently a threat whenever he was on the ball and there seemed to be a bit of fear from the PSG defenders after what he did to them in the Club World Cup final last July. 7

Enzo Fernandez - The Argentina international started the game really well, passing it expertly in the middle of the park while also drifting out to both wings at times. That was encapsulated on 28 minutes when his cross-field pass found Gusto for the equalising goal. A fantastic finish in the second half to get Chelsea back level. 8

Pedro Neto - Neto did brilliantly on around 17 minutes to get behind the PSG defence for the first time and his cross almost found its way in via a big deflection from Nuno Mendes. In the second period, he did exceptionally well to find Fernandez for Chelsea's second goal. The Portuguese winger showed great desire, speed and then composure to lay the ball back to his teammate. 8

Joao Pedro - The Brazilian saw plenty of the ball and did well largely to keep hold of it in some difficult situations. In terms of chances at goal, Joao Pedro was limited bar a header in the first half where he perhaps should have done a bit better. 6

Liam Delap (on for Joao Pedro 83') - Had a shot. Not enough time to make an impact. N/A

Romeo Lavia (on for Palmer 83') - Probably came on to help Chelsea sure things up but it didn't work. N/A

Alejandro Garnacho (on for Gusto 88') - Not enough time to make a meaningful impact. N/A
