The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) exam, scheduled for March 11 and 12, will now be held at a later date.

The remaining districts will continue as usual.
Exams in the remaining districts of the state will continue as scheduled.

TR Lalu, Director of Accreditation and Controller of Examinations for the Meghalaya Board of School Education, said, "The HSSLC exams scheduled for March 11 (Music) and March 12 (Human Science) have been cancelled only in West Garo Hills. They will be rescheduled for other dates to be notified later."

More than 29,000 students are appearing for the Higher Secondary School Probationary Examination conducted by the board this year.

Class 12 exams postponed in West Garo Hills due to curfew and security concerns
The decision to postpone the exams was made due to the curfew imposed in some parts of the district following incidents of violence. Lalu said precautionary measures were taken to ensure the safety of students and examination staff.

Another official said that two people were killed in police firing during clashes between tribal and non-tribal groups over the nomination process for local council elections in the district on Tuesday, following which the government imposed a curfew and called in the army.
