Businesses are affected by the shortage of commercial LPG in many cities. An astrologer's old prediction on this crisis is going viral. The government has directed to increase production by implementing the Essential Commodities Act to ensure domestic supply.
In many cities of the country, restaurants, hotels and transport services are facing shortage of commercial LPG. Meanwhile, a months-old social media post of an astrologer has again gone viral on the internet. This post has created quite a stir in the online world. This shortage is happening at a time when the ongoing tension in the Middle East is affecting energy supplies across the world.
Astrologer Prashant Kini originally shared this post on X (formerly Twitter) in September 2025. In his tweet, he had warned that after March 2026, there may be interruption in the supply of petroleum and natural gas in India. In the post, the astrologer had written: “After March 2026, India will face shortage of fuel and natural gas… supply chain will be disrupted.”
When news of LPG shortage started making headlines, Kini re-shared the same tweet on March 11, writing: “I had made this prediction about 5 months ago…!”

What did people say?
This old post caught the attention of social media users and various types of comments started coming on it. One user wrote, "Can you predict now? When will it be okay?"
Another user said, “Brother, he is the final boss of astrology.” Another person wrote, "Let's see what happens after March 2026."
The impact of this shortage has already been felt in many cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. Restaurant associations in many cities have reported that the supply of commercial LPG has become irregular in the last few days.
What does the Indian government say?
The central government has invoked the Essential Commodities Act to ensure that LPG supply to homes, hospitals and other essential services is given priority. Due to these restrictions, commercial distribution has been limited in some places. The authorities have also increased the booking time for domestic cylinders from 21 days to 25 days. Also, refineries have been instructed to increase the production of LPG to stabilize the supply.
