In response to suspicious drone activity along the international border in Samba district, Jammu and Kashmir, security forces initiated a comprehensive search operation on Saturday. This action was prompted by concerns over potential smuggling of weapons or narcotics via drones from across the border, leading to searches in several frontline villages. Official sources reported that a hostile drone was spotted hovering over the villages of Kandral, Abtal, and Bahadurpur in the Ramgarh sector late Friday night.
The drone remained in Indian airspace for several minutes before retreating. Following this incident, the area was placed under strict surveillance. Authorities ensured that a thorough search operation commenced at dawn to verify that no arms or drugs had been dropped from across the border.
Security forces have seized over 3.5 kilograms of heroin in the past two days from border villages near the RS Pura sector, with an estimated international market value exceeding 20 crore rupees. Officials stated that two suspected traffickers were detained on Friday for questioning regarding the drug recovery in the RS Pura sector.
Heightened Vigilance and Community Involvement
Given the rising drone activities along the border, the Border Security Force (BSF) and local police have intensified patrols. Residents have been urged to promptly report any suspicious objects or activities to the authorities.
