Xabi Alonso's representative, Inaki Ibanez, has addressed his client's future plans as the Spaniard weighs up a return to the dugout ahead of next season amidst speculation linking him with Liverpool. Alonso has been without a club since parting ways with Real Madrid by mutual agreement in January, concluding a short seven-month spell in charge.
Since his departure, Alonso has been associated with various positions, including at Liverpool's rivals Manchester United and Tottenham. His name emerged as a possible replacement at Old Trafford after Ruben Amorim's exit, while he was also floated as a contender to succeed Thomas Frank in north London.
Nevertheless, both possibilities seem doubtful given Alonso's deep connections to Liverpool. He has also been tentatively linked with a switch to Ligue 1 club Marseille after Roberto De Zerbi's departure.

At Anfield, this campaign has presented numerous challenges for Arne Slot following his achievement of delivering Premier League success in his maiden season.
Currently, Liverpool have already fallen out of contention for the title and are now battling to guarantee Champions League qualification for the following campaign.
Failure to secure Champions League football would only heighten the scrutiny on the Dutchman, and while it might seem that Alonso is biding his time for the perfect opportunity to rejoin Liverpool, Ibanez's latest remarks indicate there is minimal truth to the speculation surrounding him and the position.

"All this talk of a contract with Liverpool is nothing more than media speculation," Alonso's agent told the media outlet WinWin.
The report also suggests that Alonso is weighing up his options for the upcoming season, having received multiple offers.
The 44-year-old is reportedly taking some time out with his family following an intense three-year stint at Bayer Leverkusen and subsequently Real Madrid.
He was dismissed by Real after a tumultuous period in Madrid, amid rumours of player unrest over his coaching approach.
"Xabi Alonso will always have the affection and admiration of all Madrid fans because he is a Real Madrid legend and has always represented the values of our club," a statement released at the time read. "Real Madrid will always be his home.
"Our club thanks Xabi Alonso and his entire technical team for their work and dedication during this time, and wishes them the best of luck in this new stage of their lives."
