Truecaller has announced the 'Family Protection' feature in India. This is a new feature designed to collectively safeguard families against scams and fraudulent calls. As part of this initiative, the company creates a 'Safety Circle' that can include up to five members from the same family. Through this initiative, the caller identification app is introducing a shared safety system that allows family members to monitor and manage potential threats received across multiple devices. The company states that it is launching this feature at a time when online scams targeting users across the country—such as impersonation fraud, AI voice cloning, and digital arrest scams—are on the rise.
Truecaller states that the Family Protection plan provides real-time alerts.
Truecaller explained that the Family Protection feature provides users with real-time alerts regarding suspicious calls and potential scams. If a risky call is received, the feature can alert the designated family administrator, who can then remotely disconnect the suspicious call on behalf of another family member. The company claims that this system offers protection to vulnerable users—such as elderly family members—who are often targeted by criminals using increasingly sophisticated methods.
With the help of the Safety Circle, one family member can manage the security settings and alerts for other members included in the group. Truecaller asserts that while this system enables families to share security protection among themselves, it does not grant members access to one another's private data. The company emphasizes that call logs, messages, and other personal information remain private to each user.

The company also notes that its new Family Protection system is powered by insights derived from its global community of over 450 million users. The platform further claimed that it identified 68 billion spam and fraudulent calls in 2025 alone. Family Protection is available for free; however, users who subscribe to Truecaller's Premium Family Plan will receive certain additional features. These include enhanced safety tools and expanded monitoring capabilities. Truecaller stated that this subscription plan is designed to further improve upon the basic protection tools available in the free version.
Truecaller first announced Family Protection in December 2025 as a pilot program in Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya. At the time, the company stated that rolling out this feature in phases would allow the caller identification app to learn from early users and prepare for its large-scale implementation in its largest market, India. Truecaller currently has approximately 2 million Premium subscribers in India.
