The Pakistani team that went on Bangladesh tour was bundled out for just 114 runs in the first match of the 3-match series. After this the team had to face a lot of criticism. Pakistan team leveled the series by winning the second ODI by 128 runs (DLS). Today (15 March) the third and decisive match of the series is being played. Bangladesh, after being invited to bat first, scored 290 runs, in response to which Pakistan’s half innings was reduced to a score of 82.

The opening pair of Sahibzada Farhan and Maaz Sadaqat could not do wonders like the previous match. Both the openers returned to the pavilion within two overs. After this, Pakistan had expectations from senior batsman Mohammad Rizwan but he too failed in the next over. Rizwan was clean bowled by Taskin Ahmed after scoring 4 runs and Pakistan’s score became 17/3.

Ghazi Ghori and Abdul Samad tried to handle the innings by making a half-century partnership for the fourth wicket but Bangladeshi fast bowlers made a comeback and dismissed both of them making Pakistan score 82/5. Bangladesh has tightened its grip on the match. At the same time, the danger of series defeat is looming over Pakistan.

A sword hanging over Rizwan’s career

In the first ODI against Bangladesh, wicketkeeper batsman Rizwan was out after scoring 10 runs. He scored 44 runs in the second ODI but he took 59 balls. Rizwan was criticized a lot for the way he bowled his wicket after taking so much time. Now after the flop in the third ODI, his career is in danger. Rizwan has been dropped from the Pakistani T20 team. His place is not safe even in the Test team. In such a situation, if he is dropped from the ODI team, his international career may end at the age of 33. Keep in mind that the captaincy of the ODI team has been taken away from him.

Are the days of Babar-Rizwan over?

Pakistan’s star batsman Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are considered very close friends. Both played for Pakistan in all three formats for a long time but one by one both have been sidelined. First Babar was removed from the captaincy, then Rizwan became the captain but his tenure also did not last long. Babar was recently seen playing in the T20 World Cup 2026, where his performance was poor. It is believed that now Babar will not be seen in Pakistan T20 team again.

Babar was not selected for the ODI series against Bangladesh due to injury. Questions have been raised about his place in the Test team. The way Pakistan has given opportunities to young players in the ODI series against Bangladesh, it is understood that preparations have been made to move forward from Babar-Rizwan.
