Mohammed Shami’s comeback is possible in IPL 2026: Few days are left for the start of Indian Premier League 2026. BCCI has announced the schedule for the first 20 matches. Now many players will be seen playing in the new team in IPL 2026 starting from March 28. Mohammad Shami played for Sunrisers last season but was traded to Lucknow Super Giants this season.

Former Indian cricketer and current commentator Akash Chopra has identified Mohammad Shami as one of the Lucknow Super Giants players with the best chances in IPL 2026. He has said that if the senior fast bowler performs well in the upcoming season of the cash league, he could make it to the Indian team.

Last international match played in the cup?

Mohammad Shami has not played a single match for India since the 2025 Champions Trophy. Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the Bengal fast bowler was bought by Lucknow Super Giants to Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 10 crore. In a video shared on his YouTube channel, cricketer-commentator Chopra explained that IPL 2026 is a great opportunity for Shami to make a comeback to the Indian team.

Akash Chopra said, “What about Mohammad Shami? There has been a lot of talk about him not getting a chance to play. He has played everything and he has done well for Bengal. If you perform well on this big stage, no one will question what the selectors think. Right now the selectors have gone and watched the matches and what they think is a fantasy scenario.”

He added, “We all wonder what they are thinking. But if you do well in the IPL, don’t worry at all. The whole world is watching you. It’s a fierce battle in a big arena and if you do well here, you can make it to the Indian team. I think it’s a great opportunity for Mohammed Shami.”
