These directions are considered auspicious in Vastu. While lighting a lamp near Tulsi, keep positive thoughts in your mind.

Meditate on Tulsi Mata. After this, chant Tulsi Mata's mantra "Om Tulsi Devyai Namah". After lighting the lamp, circumambulate the Tulsi plant 5, 7 or 11 times and pay obeisance.
