Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently shared an overview of various initiatives and policy measures undertaken in the state over the past four years. The update covered developments across multiple sectors including education, healthcare, employment, agriculture, public safety, and welfare programs. According to the information shared, the education sector has seen several initiatives aimed at improving school infrastructure and teaching capacity. More than 9,000 smart classrooms have reportedly been set up in government schools across the state, while over 15,000 teachers have been regularized.
Government data referenced in the update also stated that more than 65,000 government jobs have been provided during this period through recruitment processes. In the healthcare sector, the government highlighted the expansion of community-based health services through the establishment of 983 Aam Aadmi Clinics. These clinics have reportedly recorded over 50 million outpatient consultations. In addition, a health scheme providing treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh has been mentioned as part of the state’s healthcare support system.
Public safety initiatives were also noted, including the launch of the Sadak Suraksha Force, described as a dedicated road safety unit. Officials indicated that road accident fatalities have seen a reduction since its deployment on highways. Agriculture and rural infrastructure were highlighted as another focus area. The government stated that canal irrigation coverage has increased to around 78 percent of farmland, compared to lower levels reported in earlier years. Electricity supply for irrigation purposes and pricing for sugarcane procurement were also referenced in the update.
The government also shared information about developments related to electricity subsidies and industrial investment. According to the figures mentioned, a significant portion of households currently receive zero electricity bills under existing subsidy provisions. Officials also reported investment commitments totaling around ₹1.55 lakh crore and the creation of private-sector employment opportunities. Additional initiatives referenced in the update included welfare programs for women, expanded digital public services through helplines, free pilgrimage trips for senior citizens, financial assistance to families of martyrs, and the development of sports grounds across the state. The overview presented by the chief minister outlined a range of policy measures and programs that have been implemented across different sectors during the government’s tenure.
