Absconding accused arrested in Udupi after 13 years

Udupi: Police arrested an accused who had allegedly been absconding for nearly 13 years and had failed to appear before the court during this period.
The arrested person has been identified as Arif, a resident of Gandi Bagilu in Koyla village of Uppinangady. A case had been registered against him under the jurisdiction of Malpe Police Station.
According to police sources, the accused had not appeared before the court for several years, following which a warrant had been issued against him.
Warrant staff Suresh Kumar and Vishwanath traced the accused and arrested him at Koyla village on Monday morning. He was later produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court.
The court remanded the accused to judicial custody till March 28.
