New Delhi: The new season of IPL is going to start from March 28. Ahead of this tournament, Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran has been the topic of discussion. Recently, in the auction of England’s cricket league ‘The Hundred’, his team has included Pakistani player Abrar Ahmed in its team.

After this decision, Indian fans expressed their anger on social media and started making fun of the Sunrisers franchise. Meanwhile, former veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has made an important comment on this.

Crores spent on Abrar Ahmed

In the recent auction of ‘The Hundred’ league, Sunrisers bought Abrar Ahmed for around £1.90 lakh. This team is under the same company that also manages Sunrisers Hyderabad. After this deal, many fans raised questions and a debate broke out in the cricket world.

Sunil Gavaskar’s reaction

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar pointed out in a column that since the Mumbai terrorist attacks in 2008, Indian franchises generally maintain a distance from Pakistani players. He said that when a Pakistani player is paid money and he pays taxes in his country, that money can go into activities which can be a cause of concern for India.

sensitive decision

Gavaskar also said that these decisions can become a threat to our citizens and security forces. Therefore, caution should be exercised while taking such decisions. He said that even if the payment is made through a foreign league, when the owner is Indian, the decision would be considered delicate.

Mention of coach Daniel Vettori

Referring to team coach Daniel Vettori, Gavaskar said that foreign coaches may not fully understand this entire political and emotional aspect. However, the franchise owners should have understood the seriousness of the situation. He finally said that there is still time to reconsider this decision so that the controversy can end.
