550 Indians left Iran amid missile-drone attacks, S. Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Armenia

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, while giving information on social media platform More than 550 Indians have been evacuated safely

Rescue done with the help of Armenia

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar thanked the government and people of Armenia for their help in this campaign. He said that Armenia fully supported India in challenging circumstances. He especially praised the role of Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.

Jaishankar wrote in his post that despite the difficult circumstances, Armenia’s cooperation in the safe evacuation of Indian citizens has been very important and India is grateful for it.

Indians reached India via Armenia and Dubai

According to the Indian government, Indian citizens evacuated from Iran were first transported to neighboring countries by road. After this he was brought to India by air. Most of the Indians left Iran and reached New Delhi via Armenia and Dubai.

A large number of these are said to be students. In fact, many Indian students were studying in prestigious educational institutions of Iran and were stuck there due to the increasing tension in the region.

Withdrawal strategy through neighboring countries

In view of the increasing military tension in West Asia, the Indian government has prepared a special plan for the safety of its citizens. Under this scheme, Indians present in Iran are first being transported by land route to neighboring countries like Armenia and Azerbaijan. From there they are being sent to India through commercial flights.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also met Cyprus Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos in Brussels. In this meeting, both the leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Cyprus.
