New Delhi: Monsoon activity has intensified across various parts of the country, resulting in adverse weather conditions. The weather pattern appears to be shifting in Uttar Pradesh (UP), Delhi-NCR, and neighboring states. On March 21, the weather is expected to remain inclement, with a likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall. A warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for several regions over the coming days.
In many parts of South India, late-night rainfall has led to a drop in temperature levels. Snowfall continues in the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and Uttarakhand. While the intensity of the snowfall has indeed subsided, the biting cold persists. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain warnings for various regions across the country.
Heavy Rain Warning for These States
According to the IMD, weather patterns in North India are expected to change due to the activation of a Western Disturbance. Consequently, a warning for rain—accompanied by overcast skies—has been issued for UP, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Delhi-NCR. Gusty winds are also expected in these areas. Furthermore, a rain alert—accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning—has been issued for various parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.

Rain Alert for These Districts in UP
According to the IMD, over 40 districts in UP are likely to experience spells of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. An alert for hailstorms has been issued for approximately 20 districts.
The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Bulandshahr. In addition to these, heavy rainfall is also expected in Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Badaun, Sambhal, Aligarh, and Mathura.
The IMD has also issued a rain alert for Agra, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, and Lakhimpur Kheri. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Farrukhabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Lucknow, and Barabanki. Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Gonda, Bahraich, Sitapur, and Hardoi may experience rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Weather in Uttarakhand
According to the IMD, a change in weather patterns is also expected across various hilly districts of Uttarakhand. The IMD has issued an alert for light to moderate rainfall in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Almora, Tehri, Rudraprayag, and Bageshwar.
Additionally, an alert for light to moderate rainfall has been issued for Pithoragarh and Dehradun. Meanwhile, an alert has also been issued for thunderstorms, lightning strikes, and snowfall in certain high-altitude regions.
