×The Oberoi Group said on Friday that The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace, Khajuraho has been featured on TIME's World's Greatest Places 2026 list.
The acclaimed annual list celebrates destinations and experiences across the globe.
Set amidst the landscapes of Madhya Pradesh, The Oberoi Rajgarh is a restored 350-year-old palace located close to Panna National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage temples of Khajuraho. Built between the 9th and 12th centuries by the Chandela dynasty, the temples are considered to be amongst the finest surviving examples of medieval Indian temple architecture and are famous for their sandstone carvings depicting deities, celestial beings, musicians, dancers and scenes from everyday life.
The luxury hospitality chain said the palace has been 'meticulously restored' through an 'extensive' restoration led by the design and project team that worked closely with historians, conservation architects and craftsmen to preserve its original architectural character.
"Being recognised on TIME’s World’s Greatest Places list is a matter of immense pride for all of us at The Oberoi Group. The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace reflects our enduring commitment to preserving India’s architectural and cultural heritage while presenting it to the world through refined hospitality. We are honoured that this remarkable palace and the heritage it represents are being recognised on a global platform," said Arjun Oberoi, executive chairman, The Oberoi Group.
CEO Vikram Oberoi said every element of The Oberoi Rajgarh Palace experience from architecture and design to cuisine, wellness and service have been carefully curated to reflect the spirit of the region. "This recognition also reflects the growing global appreciation for India as a destination of extraordinary culture, history and hospitality," he added.
The chain said historic courtyards, hand carved stone pillars, grand arches and intricate detailing have been restored, showcasing the palace’s Bundela dynasty heritage.
