Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Thalapathy Vijay's film, *Jan Nayakan*. This could potentially be his final film. The movie has faced significant delays in its release for quite some time; however, it now appears likely that it may finally receive the green signal from the Censor Board.
What Happened with the Film's Release?
The film *Jan Nayakan* was originally scheduled for release on January 9, 2026, but the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to grant a censor certificate. The stated reason was that the film contained certain scenes deemed likely to offend religious sentiments. The filmmakers approached both the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court, but a stay order was placed on the film's release. In December 2025, a review committee suggested the removal of certain scenes—a suggestion the filmmakers accepted. However, a subsequent objection raised by one of the committee members caused the matter to be referred back to a revising committee for reconsideration.
When Might *Jan Nayakan* Get the Green Signal?
According to a report by NDTV, the CBFC's Revising Committee is scheduled to re-examine the film in Chennai on March 17, 2026. This meeting will be presided over by renowned Kannada film director T.S. Nagabharana. The meeting was originally slated for March 9 but was postponed due to the illness of a committee member. It is anticipated that the committee will approve the film, albeit with certain cuts. If approval is granted, the CBFC will issue the necessary certification, following which the filmmakers can finalize a release date. However, there is currently no definitive confirmation regarding an imminent release, given the numerous delays the project has already faced in the past.
About Jan Nayakan
*Jan Nayakan* is directed by H. Vinoth. The film features a star-studded cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Priyamani. All in all, *Jan Nayakan* could see an early release if everything goes smoothly during tomorrow's review session.
