PTC Web Desk: Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, who was admitted to a Mumbai hospital following a brain haemorrhage last month, has now been discharged, sources confirmed on Tuesday.
The 90-year-old writer, best known as one half of the iconic duo Salim–Javed alongside Javed Akhtar, had been undergoing treatment at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra since February 17. He was initially placed in the ICU, where doctors managed the haemorrhage and kept him on ventilator support as a precautionary measure.
According to sources, while the formal discharge process has been completed, Khan remains within the hospital premises for continued medical supervision.
Family members, including actor Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and daughters Alvira and Arpita, were frequent visitors during his hospital stay. His longtime collaborator Akhtar also visited him during the recovery period.
Salim Khan’s contribution to Hindi cinema remains monumental. Alongside Akhtar, he crafted several landmark films such as Sholay, Deewar, and Don, apart from other hits like Zanjeer, Trishul, Seeta Aur Geeta, Haathi Mere Saathi, Yaadon Ki Baarat, and Mr India.
Originally from Indore, Khan had moved to Mumbai in his youth with aspirations of becoming an actor. After years of limited success in small roles, he transitioned to writing, a decision that ultimately reshaped the landscape of mainstream Hindi cinema.
