Carol Vorderman's appearance on Jeremy Vine sparked a divided reaction on Tuesday, March 17, as some said they would be "switching off". Former Countdown host Carol appeared on the panel with Bobby Seagull and Mike Parry, as she discussed Donald Trump, politics, and the loss of Countdown star Richard Whiteley. Vine said to her: You seemed to shed this cosy quiz person and become this rip throat political animal who was just going for everyone", to which Carol replied: "I wasn't going for everybody. I'll tell you what it was, in plain sight there was so much corruption going on"
"I had been involved since the late 1990s with Tony Blair and David Blunkett, on the National Numeracy Hour. Then in the early 2000s with the internet, parents were worried about children being groomed in chatrooms, and I made documentaries for ITV and spent 18 months looking into this"
"At the end of it, I sat on a task force in the Home Office and we made the first law in the world that made grooming a child online an illegal act."
Vine then asked her: "So then why go against the Tories?" to which she bluntly responded: "Why not?"
Viewers took to social media to comment, as one said: "She's back. Which party is Carol Vorderman backing now?"
Another added: "Switches on #jeremyvine on to see who he's got on. Sees the ridiculous #CarolVordeman (Which party does she want us all to vote for today?) Switches off Jeremy Vine."
Another added: "Shut #Jeremyvine down right now.. get the celebrities off the TV talking on the show."
A third swiped: "She's back. Which party is Carol Vorderman backing now?"
But a fourth cheered: "Yay carol... you tell em... you've got your work cut out with Vine and Parry."
Carol is taking over Channel 5 on Tuesday March 17, appearing on air from 9.15am until 3pm, with special appearances on every show. This is to celebrate her return to 5 in the role of team captain on Celebrity Puzzling alongside Sally Lindsay and Jeremy Vine.
