Fans of Matt Allwright slammed Carol Vorderman for her views on the BBC's TV Licence after she claimed it was "good value". Fans were left fuming as they said that she was "delusional" for her very controversial thoughts.
Speaking on the panel of the show, the 65-year-old TV host said: "I do think that £180 is good value, to be perfectly honest, but I do think there needs to be a restructuring to counter the argument 'I never watch, I've got Sky' blah, blah blah." Journalist James Max hit back: "If you change the model and you try and work out exactly what a national broadcaster should do, both nationally and internationally, there are ways and means in which the BBC can be way more commercial abroad with how it sells its products and its wares." Carol quizzed: "And then we pay less?" He continued: "Some of it, I think, needs to come out of general taxation but be completely unrelated to politics and politicians...
"And then the other part is that there should be some sort of subscription, and I think it would be so reasonable that people would sign up to it."
But viewers at home were furious as the clip was shared to social media. Posting to X/Twitter, one said: "The BBC can't be trusted anymore. Bias news. F*** the licence fee."
Another added: "She's absolutely delusional if she thinks paying a £180 ransom to the BBC is good value. It's about time the licence was scrapped altogether."
"Who cares what Vorderman thinks. If it was 1p it would be a penny over price," a third penned.
While someone else wrote: "Forced to pay £180 to an organisation to make it legal to watch their content that you don't want to watch, is not value for money!"
A TV License is a legal requirement in the UK to watch or record live TV channels on any device, including streaming services like Sky, Netflix, or YouTube and to use BBC iPlayer.
A standard license is £174.50 per year. It is free if you are 75 or older and receive Pension Credit. People who are blind or severely sight-impaired can get a 50% discount.
