Auspicious time of Darsh Amavasya 2026
According to the Panchang, the Tithi will start on March 18, 2026, at 08:25 AM, while the Tithi will end on March 19, 2026, at 06:52 AM. Therefore, according to Udaya Tithi, the main festival will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 18 only.
Worship method of Darsh Amavasya (Darsh Amavasya Puja Vidhi)
Holy Bath: Wake up early in the morning and take bath in a holy river, lake or at home by mixing Ganga water.
Arghya to Sun God: Put water, red flowers and black sesame seeds in a copper pot and offer water to the Sun God.
Tarpan and Shraddha: Take water and black sesame seeds in your hand and face south and offer it to your ancestors.
Charity: After bathing, it is very auspicious to donate grains, clothes or sesame seeds to the needy.
Peepal Puja: On this day, offer water to the root of the Peepal tree and light a mustard oil lamp.
Do these special measures for ancestral peace
Brahmin feast: If possible, on this day, call a Brahmin to your home and feed him food and give him Dakshina.
Cow and Dog Service: Don't forget to feed bread to cow, dog and crow on Amavasya day. This reduces Pitra Dosh.
Mantra chanting: Chanting the mantra Om Pitribhyah Namah provides mental peace and blessings of ancestors.
What not to do on the day of Darsh Amavasya?
- On this day one should not eat tamasic food i.e. meat, alcohol etc.
- Do not insult or dispute with anyone.
- Do not allow negative atmosphere to be created in the house.
