Bengaluru: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her fiancé in Bengaluru, police said. The incident took place near a deserted house close to Sakkare Mandi in Devara Jeevanahalli. The victim, a resident of K G Halli, was found with fatal injuries.
Police have detained the accused, identified as Shabeel (20), a resident of D J Halli.
According to police, the accused allegedly called the girl to the deserted house around 7 am on Tuesday. When she arrived, he reportedly attacked her with a knife and slit her throat.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused, who worked at his father’s onion shop, and the victim had been in a relationship for about a year. The girl was staying at her aunt’s house in K G Halli.
Family members had recently agreed to their marriage and performed their engagement. The wedding was planned after the Bakrid festival.
Police said the reason for the dispute between the two is not yet known. The couple used to meet regularly at the same location where the crime took place.
Senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Vikram Amate and Assistant Commissioner of Police Srinivas Reddy, visited the spot and inspected the scene.
Further investigation is underway.
