You can easily make delicious potato halwa at home to offer to Mata Rani on the first day of Navratri. This halwa is also eaten during fasting and when distributed as prasad, everyone likes it very much. Let us know the easy recipe to make it.
Ingredients required to make Potato Halwa
- 3 medium sized boiled potatoes
- 3 tbsp ghee
- Half cup sugar (more or less as per taste)
- 1 cup milk
- half teaspoon cardamom powder
- 2-2 teaspoons chopped dry fruits (cashew nuts, almonds etc.)
Easy method of making potato pudding
1. Prepare the potatoes
First of all boil the potatoes thoroughly. After this, peel them and mash them well in a plate.
2. Heat ghee in a pan
Now place the pan on the gas and add ghee to it and heat it.
3. Fry Potatoes
Add mashed potatoes in hot ghee and fry well on medium flame. When the potatoes start giving off a slight aroma and their color becomes light golden, then do the next step.
4. Add milk and sugar
Now add milk to it and mix well. After this add sugar and keep stirring the halwa continuously.
5. Mix cardamom and dry fruits
When the sugar starts dissolving and the pudding starts thickening, add cardamom powder and dry fruits to it.
6. Prepare the pudding
When the halwa starts releasing ghee, turn off the gas. Your delicious potato halwa is ready. It can be decorated by adding dry fruits on top.
Special tip to enhance the taste of halwa
If you want to make the taste of this halwa richer, you can add mawa (khoya) instead of milk. Apart from this, by using jaggery instead of sugar, the taste of halwa becomes even better and nutritious.
On the first day of Navratri, offer this delicious potato halwa with reverence to Maa Shailputri and enjoy it as Prasad with the family.
