New Delhi: The Central Government is taking the matter of PAN cards very seriously, as it has become a crucial document for conducting financial transactions. To obtain a PAN card, you will now require not only an Aadhaar card but also a document proving your date of birth. Information regarding this has been shared by CSCeGov via a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

The post states that, effective April 1st, the old application forms for obtaining a PAN card will no longer be accepted. Consequently, you can complete the process of obtaining your PAN card with greater ease before March 31st. Currently, an Aadhaar card is the only document required to apply for a new PAN card.

You Can Easily Get a PAN Card Until This Date

Did you know that starting April 1st, you will need to provide documents verifying your date of birth to apply for a PAN card? If you apply for a PAN card by March 31st, your application can be processed using just your Aadhaar card. However, this will not be possible after March 31st. Therefore, you can currently complete the PAN card application process with relative ease.

Learn How to Apply for a PAN Card

To apply for a PAN card online, you must first visit the official website of the NSDL.

Next, navigate to the ‘Apply Online’ tab and select ‘New PAN – Indian Citizen (Form 49A)’. Ensure that you do not forget to select ‘Individual’ under the category section.

You will then be required to enter your personal details, such as your surname, first name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.

Fill in the CAPTCHA code and click ‘Submit’. You will then receive a Token Number.

Make sure to note this number down. Keep in mind that this Token Number comes in handy if, for any reason, your application form remains incomplete.

You can then complete the verification process via OTP using your Aadhaar card.

An advantage of this method is that you do not need to separately upload a photograph or signature.

You will then need to fill in additional details, such as your father’s name, address, etc.

Subsequently, if you select the ‘e-KYC’ option, the address linked to your Aadhaar card will be automatically populated.

You will then be required to pay the PAN card application fee online.

Finally, you must complete the Aadhaar authentication process. Then, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

After entering the OTP, your form will be submitted.
