SRH: Before IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad has suffered a big blow. Team’s regular captain Pat Cummins will not be available in the initial matches due to injury. In such a situation, the franchise has taken a big decision and decided to hand over the command of the team to young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan. With this, young opening batsman Abhishek Sharma has been appointed vice-captain.

Ishaan Kishan became the captain

Actually, recently Sunrisers Hyderabad has shared a post on social media and shared the information about changing its captain. In this post, the franchise wrote that Pat Cummins is recovering from injury, due to which he may miss some matches. Till his recovery, Ishan Kishan will play the role of captain and Abhishek Sharma will play the role of vice-captain. However, it has not been made clear in the post as to how many matches Ishaan and Abhishek will perform this responsibility.

Jharkhand won the title

Indian cricket team’s star wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan is in tremendous form these days. He played an important role in India winning the title in T20 World Cup 2026. Talking about Kishan’s captaincy, he captained India during the 2016 Under-19 World Cup, where he took the team to the finals. Apart from this, he captained Jharkhand in domestic cricket, where for the first time under his captaincy in the 2025-26 season, he made Jharkhand win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title.

SRH will play its first match against RCB

The first match of IPL 2026 will be played on March 28 between defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In this match, Indian wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan will be captaining Hyderabad, while young opener Abhishek Sharma will be seen in the role of vice-captain.
