Many people in India use debit and credit cards. Starting April 1st, debit and credit card rules will change, including airport lounge access. Important rules have been implemented regarding airport lounge access offered with debit and credit cards. Many banks have revised their rewards structures, which is why debit and credit card rules have changed.
According to the National Payments Authority of India's new rules, complimentary lounge entry on some cards has been discontinued, while others will be based on the card's value. This will affect millions of cardholders.
NPCI has directed banks to discontinue lounge access offered with RuPay Platinum cards from April 1. As a result, cardholders will no longer be able to use lounge services at domestic or international airports. Several banks have informed their customers about this.
Punjab National Bank, HDFC Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, and ELAF Small Finance Bank have also announced this. The lounge access available on RuPay Select credit cards will be discontinued. A spending limit has also been set. To access the lounge, RuPay Select cardholders will have to spend ₹5,000 in a quarter.
Cashback rules will change
Under the new rules, cardholders will receive a 2% cashback on Airtel mobile, broadband, and DTH payments. They will also receive a 10% cashback on utility bill payments. This will impact users.
