A major weather system is impacting several parts of India, triggering widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across north, central, eastern, and southern regions. States including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab are witnessing cloudy skies, dust storms, and rain activity, driven by an active western disturbance.

The Shimla Met office has forecast heavy snow in Lahaul and Spiti district on Thursday and Friday. Predicting a wet spell in the state till March 24, the Met office said light to moderate rain or snow is very likely at most places of the state on Thursday and Friday, while light rain and snow is likely at isolated places of the state from March 21 to 24.
Scattered thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected to continue over the Western Himalayan Region and the plains of northwest India until March 20. In addition, isolated hailstorms are likely in Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh on March 18 and 19, while Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan may witness hailstorm activity on March 19 and 20. West Rajasthan is expected to be affected on March 19, and East Uttar Pradesh on March 20.
Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on March 19 and 20, increasing the chances of localized disruptions.
Across Central and East India, scattered thunderstorms with gusty winds are forecast to persist until March 22. Hailstorm activity is expected over Vidarbha on March 18, Chhattisgarh on March 18 and 19, East Madhya Pradesh on March 19 and 20, and Odisha between March 19 and 21. Additionally, West Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand may be affected on March 20, while West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to witness similar conditions on March 20 and 21.

Rain in Delhi
Delhi saw strong winds, thunderstorms, and intense rain towards late Wednesday evening due to a western disturbance and formation of convective clouds. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said residents can expect more rain over the next few days. The weather office has issued a yellow alert, expecting rain and strong winds on Thursday and Friday. Hyderabad, surrounding districts can expect showers
Hyderabad and surrounding districts such as Ranga Reddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri can expect cloudy skies with moderate rainfall. Scattered rainfall across Telangana has brought much-needed relief, lowering daytime temperatures by 3–4°C. The IMD has forecast light to moderate showers and thunderstorm activity in several districts, including Hyderabad, over the next few days. Severe thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds up to 50 km/h are expected to impact several districts, including Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, Jangaon, Yadadri-Bhongir, Nalgonda, Hanmakonda, Warangal, Mulugu, Bhupalapally, Medak, Nagarkurnool, and Wanaparthy.
