Kolkata Knight Riders team has started searching for the replacement of injured fast bowler Harshit Rana. According to reports, former Chennai players Simarjeet Singh, KM Asif and experienced Sandeep Warrier are at the forefront of this race.
Kolkata: Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, three-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is looking for a replacement for their injured fast bowler Harshit Rana. The names of former Chennai Super Kings players Simarjeet Singh and KM Asif as well as experienced bowler Sandeep Warrier are also included in this list. Actually, Harshit Rana got injured in his right knee during a warm-up match of the T20 World Cup, after which he underwent surgery. He is currently resting and there is no definite news regarding his return. For this reason the team management is looking for new options.
Simarjeet, who throws the ball at a speed of more than 140 kilometers per hour, had performed brilliantly in the first phase of the trials held in Mumbai. He has also shone for Chennai Super Kings in 2022. Kerala player Asif was also in tremendous form recently, taking 5 wickets for 24 runs in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has pace, but injuries often become a challenge for him. Sandeep made his debut for KKR in 2019, so his past experience with the franchise may come in handy. Last Wednesday, along with Asif, Sandeep also took part in the trials held at Eden Gardens.
Uncertainty about Pathirana also
Another concern for KKR is the availability of Sri Lankan player Mathisha Pathirana. The team had bought him for Rs 18 crore, but he has not yet received clearance from the Sri Lankan Cricket Board. He is still recovering from the injury suffered during the World Cup. Team sources say that due to the delay in Pathirana's arrival, the team is booking and canceling flight tickets for him every day.
expectations from muzarabani
At present, the eyes of the fans are fixed on Zimbabwean player Blessing Muzarabani, who has come into the team in place of Mustafizur Rahman. Muzarabani performed brilliantly in the World Cup by taking 13 wickets and played an important role in the upset victory against Australia. Apart from these, KKR's pace attack also includes bowlers like Vaibhav Arora, Akash Deep, Karthik Tyagi and Umran Malik.
