New Delhi: In recent times, the blue drum has gained notoriety on the social media platforms among netizens due to its association with an infamous murder.
The ‘blue drum’ threat
Now, in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr, a man has reportedly allowed his wife to live with her boyfriend after deciding to end their marriage. The reason: His wife allegedly threatened to kill him and stuff him in a blue drum with cement. Last year, in the infamous Meerut murder, the accused, Muskan, along with her boyfriend, Sahil, killed her husband and put him in a blue drum filled with cement. The incident created great uproar all over the country.
Rajkumar’s plight in married life
In Daulatpur village, Rajkumar, a daily wage labourer, lived with his wife of seven years. The couple has a six-month-old child, and his wife allegedly has a relationship with a man she met through social media. Rajkumar has alleged that they have met secretly and have also maintained frequent phone contact.
Last July, the wife told him that she was going to live at her parents’ house. However, she allegedly went to live with her boyfriend. Later, Rajkumar found objectionable photos of her with her boyfriend on her phone, and found a Facebook post with the “cement and blue drum” caption.
The acceptance of demand
Rajkumar’s wife, when asked to end the affair, allegedly threatened to use the ‘blue drum’ method to kill him and his brothers. He got scared and approached the police, and later, the Women’s Mediation Cell called the couple for counselling. The woman’s boyfriend also arrived there, and all three families discussed the issue.
The wife was adamant on living with her boyfriend, and Rajkumar and his family agreed to accept her demand.
Rajkumar said that he made the decision to protect his life, and reportedly stated, “She would not cook for me or clean my clothes. She would also throw away the soiled clothes of our baby instead of washing them. She repeatedly said that she wanted to live with her boyfriend.” The police have not registered any criminal charge in the case.
