There’s something about South Indian dishes that instantly lights up your mood. Be it a plate of fluffy idlis served with a lip-smacking assortment of chutneys or a warm bowl of lemon rice, topped with crunchy peanuts, fragrant curry leaves and a hint of mustard seeds, every bite tugs at your heartstrings. Don’t know about you, but Priyanka Chopra’s cousin and actress Mannara Chopra agrees with this sentiment wholeheartedly. The 34-year-old’s professional commitments took her to Mysore, the cultural capital of Karnataka, for the Mysore Fashion Week Season 8.

Mannara Chopra’s foodie outing in Mysore

Now that she has wrapped up her duties, Mannara Chopra appears to have unleashed her foodie spirit. The Zid actress recently posted a video on Instagram where she was seen indulging in a delicious South Indian spread, as happy as a kid in a candy store.

The clip opened to Mannara Chopra sitting at the table of her accommodation, overlooking the pristine greenery all around. Arranged beautifully on the table was a plate of crispy Masala masala dosa, aka a rice-and-lentil crepe filled with spicy potatoes and vegetables. She paired the lip-smacking staple with a small bowl of thick and rich coconut chutney, garnished with a tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves.

If you thought that was it, you are mistaken. Mannara Chopra’s gastronomical outing also included a plate of ghee-soaked, square-shaped Mysore pak, one of the famous sweets in the city, known for its rich and melt-in-the-mouth texture. While savouring a bite of the dosa with the chutney and a portion of the sugary indulgence, Mannara Chopra admitted that she had permitted herself to enjoy the delectable dish, more so because she had eaten very little the previous day. Her verdict on the items was simple yet genuine. ‘It is too good. Local food is the best food,’ she confessed.

The post was soon flooded with reactions. ‘Mysore pak for a Punjabi,’ read a playful remark. Another admitted that the dosa looked ‘absolutely delicious’. Meanwhile, a third user pointed out that Mannara Chopra’s expressions were proof enough that the traditional meal she had was actually superb. Some other famous must-try dishes in Mysore include ragi mudde, bisi bele bhat, maddur vada, puliyogare and chiroti.

Mannara Chopra made her Bollywood debut with Zid (2014). She also became the second runner-up of the Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss 17.
