Anil Ambani CBI Questioning: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday interrogated the country’s well-known industrialist Anil Ambani for about 7 hours for the second consecutive day in the alleged bank fraud case of Rs 2,929 crore. According to sources, Ambani reached the CBI headquarters around 10 am on Friday, where he was extensively interrogated in the case.
Earlier on Thursday also, the CBI had interrogated him for about 8 hours, in which questions were asked regarding alleged fund diversion, misuse and other financial irregularities in the loan taken from the bank. Ambani’s spokesperson said that this appearance is part of his commitment to fully cooperate with all agencies.
Case registered on SBI complaint
This case is against Reliance Communications and Anil Ambani state Bank of India (SBI) has been registered on the basis of complaint. The CBI has alleged that the company and people associated with it have committed offenses such as criminal conspiracy, cheating and breach of trust. According to the SBI complaint, the total outstanding of the company to various banks was more than Rs 40,000 crore, of which SBI alone suffered a loss of about Rs 2,929 crore. It is alleged that between 2013 and 2017, the loan amount was misused by carrying out complex transactions through various units of the group.
CBI had registered an FIR in this case in August 2025. After this, many other banks including Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, Union Bank, UCO Bank, Central Bank, IDBI Bank and Bank of Maharashtra also filed separate complaints. Apart from this, new cases to this matter have also been registered in February and March 2026, in which exposure of other banks is also included.
CBI has raided Ambani’s house
During the investigation, CBI also raided Ambani’s residence and company offices in Mumbai, from where many important documents were seized. At the same time, Ambani’s spokesperson has rejected all the allegations and said that this matter is more than 10 years old and at that time Ambani was a non-executive director in the company, who had no connection with the day-to-day operations. He said the matter is currently sub judice before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and other judicial forums, including the Supreme Court.
On December 6, 2025, based on a complaint by Bank of Maharashtra, the CBI had registered an FIR against Reliance Commercial Finance Limited, Devang Praveen Modi, Ravindra Somayajula Rao and other unknown persons (including unidentified government employees) on charges of fraud of Rs 57.47 crore.
Divya Dangi interrogated for 4 hours
In this case, on Friday, CBI summoned Divya Dangi for questioning. Divya Dangi is a Whole Time Director at Authum Investment and Infrastructure Limited, which has Reliance Commercial Finance Limited and has acquired the assets of Reliance Home Finance Limited, which are currently under investigation. After appearing before the CBI, Divya Dangi was interrogated by the investigating officer for about four hours.
