Gujarat government is committed to providing clean drinking water in rural areas, signed a big agreement with the central government.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the Gujarat government has taken a big step to provide clean drinking water in rural areas. Under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, an important MoU has been signed between the state government and the central government. With this, the water target for every household will be further strengthened.

Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil also joined virtually on this occasion. The Chief Minister said that the state government is fully committed to providing safe and adequate drinking water to remote villages. These agreements will play an important role in strengthening water management, increasing transparency and improving rural living standards.

Focus is being done on Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

Let us tell you, Jal Jeevan Mission was started on 15 August 2019 with the target of water in every house, which Gujarat successfully achieved in October 2022. Now under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, the focus is on making water supply more regular, effective and sustainable by 2028.

Monitoring and transparency of the scheme will be ensured

Through this agreement, timely implementation, operation and maintenance of water schemes will be strengthened, the role of water management committees will be increased at the village level and responsibility will be handed over to Gram Panchayats. Along with this, monitoring and transparency will be ensured through digital platforms like Sujalam Bharat and PM Gati Shakti.

Awareness will be raised about water conservation

The state government will increase awareness about water conservation through human resource development and Jal Utsav through programs like Nal Jal Mitra. Gujarat Government’s commitment towards public welfare and sustainable development is visible through this initiative.
