According to a report by Android Police, complaints posted on platforms such as Reddit indicate that the issue affects more than one device. In some cases, phones recover after a few seconds, while in others they remain stuck until users manually reboot them. Some reports also suggest that the freezing is not limited to the AOD and can extend to the lock screen, affecting basic phone functions.


How the March updates are affecting Pixel 10 users


While most complaints appear to involve the Pixel 10 series, the report noted that some Pixel 9 users have also reported similar behaviour. At the moment, there do not appear to be broad reports from Pixel 8 or Pixel 7 users, suggesting the issue may be affecting the newer models.

There is no confirmed fix so far. Some users have tried steps such as factory resetting their devices, but those efforts have not appeared to solve the problem. For now, the only workaround is to turn off the Always-on Display feature or restart the device from time to time to reduce the risk of freezing.

This is not the first time Pixel 10 users have reported issues related to the Always-on Display. Similar complaints surfaced soon after the phone launched and appeared again after the Android 16 QPR2 update in December 2025. The same problem now seems to have resurfaced following the latest Quarterly Feature Drop.

The bug's return across multiple updates suggests a problem that may not have been fully resolved. It also adds to concerns around software stability, especially since such updates are generally expected to improve performance and address known issues.

Alongside the display problem, some users have also noticed changes to the Recent Apps interface after the March update. The update is said to remove options such as saving images directly to Google Photos or starting a Google Lens search from the recent apps screen.

Google has not issued an official statement on the reported issue so far. Until a fix arrives, affected users may need to depend on temporary workarounds.
