Loose Woman star Penny Lancaster appeared on Saturday Morning withJames Martin this weekend where she admitted to a 'terrifying' aspect of her childhood.
The former model and photographer was one of two guests appearing alongside the popular TV chef on his weekly magazine show alongside singer and actor Alfie Boe.
While the chef prepared a carefully selected dish for his guest, he asked her about her entire career and how she ended up where she has following difficulties in her childhood.
Penny opened up about suffering from dyslexia at a time when it was not recognised while she was at school.
Martin, who also suffers from the learning difficulty, asked if her experience was similar in that either children were considered clever or 'thick' and he was put into a special skills class.
However, she said she was just clumped together with the rest of the class and forced to suffer. She described it as a 'terrifying' aspect of growing up, especially considering she did not know why she could not learn in the same way as others.
She was not diagnosed until she was 46. However, years later she is now preparing to release her own book about her life and career.
Penny Lancaster was born on 15 March, 1971 meaning she is now 55 years old. She grew up in Essex and was first spotted by a modelling talent scout when she was around 22.
She eventually started to work behind the camera as a photographer and this was how she met her now husband, musician Rod Stewart in 1998. They eventually married in 2007 and now have two children together.
Penny has previously explained how supportive her husband was during her late life diagnosis for dyslexia.
She has said: "Rod has never made me feel in any way like I can't do things. I was asked to read a pledge at a charity event. I was in a panic but he said, 'Go on, Pen, you can do it.'
Her memoir, Someone Like Me, has now been published in paperback and Penny has spoken before about how pleased she is regarding her journey to go from struggling student to where she is now.
She once said in a radio interview: "Reading out loud was one of my absolute terrors and so English was most problematic for me.
"So the idea that I've now written a book and did my audio and actually had to read that out loud to produce that book was quite an accomplishment for me I have to say."
Saturday Morning with James Martin airs Saturdays at 9.25am on ITV1 and streaming on ITVX.
