Varanasi: BSc student shot dead in broad daylight in college… Father refuses to perform last rites, demands justice

A very painful and shocking incident has come to light from Varanasi. A minor dispute took such a dangerous turn that a student lost his life. The incident took place at Uday Pratap College, where Surya Pratap Singh, a BA fourth semester student, was shot dead on Friday. It is being told that this attack was carried out by a student of the same college.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused fired from very close range and fired several rounds continuously. Surya Pratap was seriously injured after being shot. The injured student was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital, from where he was sent to BHU Trauma Center for better treatment. However, despite the efforts of the doctors, his life could not be saved.

The accused absconded after the incident

After committing the incident the accused fled from the spot. It is being told that while running away, he threw the weapon in the nearby area, which was later recovered by the police. At present, a case has been registered against the accused and one of his associates and their search is on.

Family’s anger, violence broke out on campus

At the same time, the father of the deceased clearly said that he will not perform the last rites until the accused is caught. The atmosphere in the college deteriorated after the incident. Angry students started protesting and closed the main gate. During this, some vehicles were damaged and there was a scuffle with many teachers. A teacher had to be admitted to the hospital after getting injured.

Police action and investigation

Heavy police force was deployed to control the situation. Police officers reached the spot and took control of the situation and tried to pacify the people. Police say that in the initial investigation this case seems to be the result of a personal dispute between two students.

This incident has raised serious questions on the security arrangements of the college. The biggest question is how a student reached inside the campus with a weapon. At present, the police is examining the CCTV footage and conducting continuous raids to arrest the accused soon.
