Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and even termed him the ‘B-team’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He alleged that both Congress and BJP parties have been adopting similar strategies against the Left alliance, which indicates closeness between them.

What did Vijayan say on Rahul Gandhi?

According to Vijayan, the stance of both these parties has been the same towards the Left Democratic Front (LDF) led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Vijayan said that Rahul Gandhi is among those leaders who are not willing to learn from their experiences. Describing it as a rare tendency, he said that this often happens to those people who do not understand the circumstances properly. According to him, when seen from the perspective of national politics, it becomes clear that under the leadership of Gandhi, the role of Congress has become like a complement to BJP.

The Chief Minister also accused Congress of doing appeasement politics. He said that this strategy is an attempt to harness the communal forces of both majority and minority. On the contrary, he claimed that the stance of CPI(M) and LDF is completely secular and they do not compromise with any kind of communalism.

Vijayan further said that political parties which give priority only to votes, fail to maintain distance from communalism. He alleged that the United Democratic Front (UDF) is now moving towards compromise with communal forces, which can prove dangerous for the country. He reiterated that LDF is adopting a strict stand against all forms of communal politics.

Mention of Arvind Kejriwal

During this, while referring to Arvind Kejriwal, he said that Rahul Gandhi had made serious allegations against him, but the Delhi court rejected those allegations. Describing this as a big blow to the Congress leadership, Vijayan said that despite this the same allegations are being repeated, which is unfortunate.

These comments of Vijayan have come at a time when the political atmosphere is heated regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala. Voting is to be held in the state on April 9, while the results will be declared on May 4.
